Let's go... Explore Nature

With stunning views across Morecambe Bay, this shingle island reserve is full of interest and a fantastic place for bird watching. South Walney Nature Reserve is home to the only grey seal colony in Cumbria. Grey seals can be seen at high tide year-round at their only haul-out location in Cumbria. Throughout the year look out for barn owls, short-eared owls and peregrines.

And after exploring South Walney Nature Reserve why not visit Newby Bridge and enjoy more nature spotting with Fell Foot’s heritage and garden circular walk. Fell Foot is unique in the Lake District, with a complex of historic gothic boathouses, modern active base and a wonderful 18th-century pleasure ground including pinetum, garden and native flower meadows

And if that isn’t enough then why not visit Grizedale Forest in the heart of the Lake District World Heritage Site, offering an unrivalled day out for everyone. Breath-taking views, stunning artwork and endless forest trails, come and discover all that Grizedale has to offer. Explore the forest on two wheels, foot or horse back!
